- RainHarvest Company. RainHarvest Company provided the water reclamation and rain cisterns for EcoManor. Our RainHarvest System collects the rain water for flushing the toilets and irrigating the landscape. The Water ReUse System reclaims the gray water for irrigating the landscape, primarily the lawn. Though a much larger home than previously occupied the site, less storm water exits the site now than before because our RainHarvest System captures it and reclaims it. The water irrigates the landscape then naturally percolates into the soil instead of flowing down the gutters into the street. - Georgia Power. Georgia Power supports an array of environmental projects to make our air and water cleaner and our land more beautiful. The company actively promotes environmentally sound generation and funds research and development for advanced energy technologies. Under the company's current environmental compliance strategy, Georgia Power expects to invest $2 billion over the next five years to further reduce emissions of nitrogen oxide (NOx) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) by installing scrubbers and additional selective catalytic reduction systems on its larger coal-fired generating units. These investments will be in addition to the nearly $1 billion the company has already invested since 1990, which resulted in a nearly 40% reduction in SO2 and NOx emissions. Georgia Power. - Atlanta Gas Equipment Company. Geothermal Heating. Founded by Lewis Robinson, Atlanta Gas Equipment Company provided the Geothermal heating for EcoManor. The temperature in the ground around your house is fairly constant year round, and that's the secret behind the efficiency of geothermal heating and cooling system. That constant temperature - roughly 46 to 50 degrees F. in northern states and warmer as you travel south - allows already efficient electric heat pumps to operate for even less, reducing the cost of heating your home by more than half when compared with a propane furnace. And geothermal systems provide cooling at up to a third less than conventional central air conditioning systems. Geothermal systems will work for any house, old or new, whether delivering forced air through ductwork or heated liquid through radiant tubing in the floor. - Building Dashboard™. Lucid Design Group provided the Building Dashboard™ display system that integrates with Crestron’s touch panels. Serving as the educational centerpiece for a variety of green features and technologies installed throughout the home, EcoManor’s Building Dashboard™ makes the hidden flows of energy and water visible in real time so that occupants directly experience, learn from and respond to the ecological and economic consequences of EcoManor’s green design decisions. The web-accessible touch-screen interface continually displays “live” resource use on each floor of the home; calculates money earned from having installed solar photovoltaic, water recycling, and geothermal heating and cooling systems; translates resource use into everyday currencies, such as equivalent lightbulbs, carbon dioxide, and money; and displays current weather conditions and forecasts. Personal choices can substantially reduce energy and water use in buildings. Research demonstrates that easily accessible feedback of this type increases both awareness and motivation to act in ways that change attitudes, minimize resource use and save money. - Interior Media. Interior Media's experience in integrating home entertainment, communications, lighting control, and climate control for residential properties made us the perfect partner for EcoManor. Interior Media went to work installing and integrating a system that fully monitors utility usage and manages various systems including: lighting, climate control, security, and even water collection. All monitored via a 15-inch touchpanel manufactured by Crestron. The project couldn't have been possible without the services of integration partner companies Lucid Design Group and Synpros. Lucid's Building Dashboard™ makes the invisible flows of energy and water observable, teachable and engaging in Ecomanor. Serving as the centerpiece for a variety of green features and technologies installed throughout the home, EcoManor's Building Dashboard display allows occupants to directly experience, learn from and respond to the positive environmental effects of EcoManor's green design decisions.
